Genelec SE˘â DSP Monitoring System

The Genelec SE˘â (Small Environment) DSP System brings a new approach to solving acoustic issues with small recording and mixing environments. Smaller production rooms beg for sensible solutions in monitoring. The SE˘â DSP System brings easy to use and affordable Genelec quality including AutoCal˘â - automated self-calibration algorithm - to this wide range of customers. The Genelec SE˘âDSP System won the TEC Award 2008.

The SE˘â DSP System utilizes the new 10ˇ± SE7261A DSP subwoofer in combination with the 8130A digital input active monitors. The system can be easily setup into all popular audio configurations from subwoofer-assisted stereo to multi-channel reference systems.

The GLM.SE˘â software (V1.2.0.supports Windows XP and Mac OS X) brings the entire DSP system together under computer network control. The software control of the SE7261A DSP subwoofer provides all necessary network connections to the host computer and supplies extensive DSP resources for the 8130A digital input loudspeakers through its AES/EBU digital high-pass outputs.

The GLM.SE˘â software is designed to work solely with the SE7261A DSP Subwoofer and vice versa. In order to register your GLM.SE˘â software, click here:

Auto Cal˘â - Fast, easy and consistent acoustic self-calibration

Click!

AutoCal˘â provides the industry's first integrated process for complete automated measurement, analysis, and adjustment of every monitoring loudspeaker in the control network for both PC and Mac plateforms.

  • Uses factory-calibrated Genelec acoustic measurement microphone (included)
  • AutoCal automatically creates a compensation file for host soundcard
  • AutoCal aligns Level and compensates Distance differences
  • Acoustic Response Editor provides accurate graphical display of the measured response, filter compensation and the resulting system response for each loudspeaker, with full manual control of acoustic settings
  • SinglePoint˘â and MultiPoint˘â microphone positions provide measurements for one, two or three person mixing environments (ex: mixer, musician and producer positions)

In GLM˘â System

  • 8200 Series loudspeakers can utilize four parametric DSP notch filters and four parametric DSP shelving filters for each loudspeaker
  • 7200 subwoofers utilize four parametric DSP notch filters, plus bass roll off controls
  • Adjusts correct crossover phase for all subwoofers in the network
  • Vertical Axis Trim for situations where loudspeaker acoustic axis cannot be physically optimized

In GLM.SE˘â System

  • Each 8130A digital input loudspeaker can utilize two parametric DSP notch filters, plus the room response controls in the loudspeaker hardware
  • SE7261A subwoofer utilizes four parametric DSP notch filters, plus bass roll off controls
  • Adjusts correct crossover phase for the SE7261A subwoofer on the network

Genelec Loudspeaker Manager˘â for Small Environments (SE) with AutoCal˘â for PC and Mac

The GLM.SE˘â - Genelec Loudspeaker Manager for Small Environments - is a loudspeaker control networking system that offers capability to control all system parameters of a SE7261A subwoofer combined with Genelec 8130A active monitors.

The GLM.SE˘â software combined with the new SE7261A brings AutoCal˘â to smaller listening environments. The system provides 4 notch filters and Bass Management for the SE7261A subwoofer as well as 2 notch filters for each 8130A connected to the subwofer's high-pass outputs. Levels, distance/delay timing, and subwoofer phase are optimized as well.

The GLM.SE˘â software retains virtually all of the excellent attributes of the standard GLM˘â. From the Main Screen Volume, Solos, Mutes, Bass Manager Bypass is easily controlled. Settings can be stored for Stand Alone use as well as the definition and selection of Speaker Groups. Also, different AutoCal˘â optimization Setup files can be made for different listening positions in the room.

Genelec Loudspeaker Manager for Small Environments˘â

GLM.SE˘â software - for PC & Mac - brings the entire DSP system together under computer network control:

  • GLM.SE˘â provides connectivity for one SE7261A DSP subwoofer combined with up to eight 8130A digital input loudspeakers
  • Enables multiple custom User Setups with all settings and functions to be stored in GLM.SE˘â setup or directly to the SE7261A subwoofer
  • Step-by-step Wizard guides user through complete cabling connections and loudspeaker labeling
  • Rapid Cabling setups for most common system configurations
  • Manual Cabling setups for customized system configurations
  • Groups for both Channels and Loudspeakers may be customized by User
  • Solo/Mute function for all Loudspeakers and Groups
  • Volume controlled via computer, 3rd party USB device or customer console
  • Video Display Compensation for inherent video delays in digital video devices
  • GLM.SE˘â provides interface to AutoCal˘â automated acoustic self-calibration algorithm

Genelec 8130A Digital Monitoring System

The Genelec 8130A Digital Monitoring System has a 192 kHz/24 bit digital audio interface. Due to its compact size, integrated construction, excellent dispersion and precise stereo imaging, the 8130A is ideal for near field monitoring, mobile vans, digital audio workstations, broadcast and TV control rooms, surround sound systems, home studios, multimedia applications and also for use with computer soundcards. The Directivity Control Waveguide˘â (DCW˘â) technology provides excellent frequency balance even in difficult acoustic environments.

The integrated design allows the amplifiers and the drivers to be calibrated as a single unit, eliminating the effects of component tolerances and ensuring consistent quality.

The all-aluminium Minimum Diffraction Enclosure˘â (MDE˘â) and advanced Directivity Control Waveguide˘â (DCW˘â) technologies are carefully matched with advanced amplifier and electronics circuitry. The low frequency response extends down to 55 Hz (-3 dB) while distortion is extremely low due to a uniquely new rear reflex port design.

The 8130A is very easy to set up and use, the only connections required are the mains supply and the input signal. The female XLR input connector can be fed with either AES/EBU formatted digital signal or analog line level audio signal. The Genelec 8130A automatically detects analog or digital signals and directs them to the correct signal paths.

The 8130A has been designed to complement the SE7261A DSP subwoofer as part of the SE˘â DSP System.

Genelec SE7261A Active DSP Subwoofer

Genelec SE7261A Active DSP Subwoofer brings the flexibility and accuracy of room response equalization to smaller production environment. At the heart of the Genelec SE˘â (Small Environments) DSP loudspeaker system is the SE7261A DSP subwoofer with DSP processing. The SE7261A DSP subwoofer provides all necessary network connections to the host computer and supply extensive DSP resources through its eight AES/EBU high-passed channels to the 8130A active loudspeakers.

The proprietary GLM.SE˘âsoftware kit includes a measurement microphone, AutoCal˘â function and other key features of the standard GLM software. The system setup is simple, as the 8130A digital input active loudspeakers are not connected to the network but DSP processing is applied to the high-pass filtered output signal at the subwoofer, allowing the 8130A's to be aligned and adjusted to perfection.

The SE7261A DSP Subwoofer is designed to work solely with the GLM.SE software and vice versa.

The Genelec SE7261A Laminar Spiral Enclosure˘â (LSE˘â) bass reflex enclosure is made of sheet metal rolled into a spiral shape and clamped between sturdy MDF side panels. This novel construction technique allows for a long reflex tube to be mounted into a small cabinet, which provides as a result excellent laminar flow characteristics with minimal turbulence noise.
